Thomas M. Pegnim is a principal in the Law offices of Thomas M. Pegnim. He received his BA from Harvard and received his JD at Golden Gate University with highest honors. Thomas Pegnim is a certified specialist in workers' compensation for over two decades. He serves as a Judge Pro Tem at the Oakland Workers' Compensation Appeals Board and is a member of the Bench and Bar Committee of the Oakland Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. Mr. Pegnim is on the Board of Directors of the CAAA and is the former president of NCAAA and a "Super Lawyer." He is a frequent lecturer and speaker at conventions and education seminars. He currently specializes in representing injured workers before the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board and practices personal injury, social security and disability retirement.

Lisa E. Ivancich is an attorney in Antioch, California with the Law Offices of Thomas M. Pegnim, where she practices workers' compensation, social security and personal injury law. Ms Ivancich received her BA degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and her JD degree from Golden Gate University. She has worked with both insurance carriers and self-insured employers, in addition to representing injured workers. She currently serves as a Judge Pro Tem at the Oakland Workers' Compensation Appeals.

Athena Costis graduated from UC Davis in 1986 with High Honors and UC Davis Law School in 5/89. Ms. Costis initially worked in Sacrament for two firms that specialized in workers' compensation, Ordas & Timmons and the Mastagni Law Firm, then moved to Oakland, CA and worked with the workers' compensation firm, Leary & Miller for 10 years. Ms Costis then began working part-time to allow more time for her and her three children and been working with the Law Offices of Thomas Pegnim for over 5 years.

Mike Nishiyama was born and raised in Pasadena, California. He graduated from UCLA and then UC Hastings College of Law San Francisco. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1977 and has been practicing Law in Northern California since that time. Mike specializes in Personal Injury Law and does some legal representation for some well known entertainers. In his spare time Mike is an avid bridge player and enjoys overseas travel with his wife.

Kathy Empringham was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. In college her courses were geared towards business management and accounting. Kathy moved to California in 1988 and after living briefly on the Peninsula she eventually settled into Antioch in 1990. She has been with the firm for fifteen years and has been the office manager for the last five years. She attends regular seminars and receives continuous updated literature to remain abreast of current law changes and how it will impact the clients. In her spare time she enjoys participating in Scouting with her two sons and vacationing with a large extended family.
